# Noon changed referral fees. Should your price change?

A new fee table is a reason to recalculate product contribution, not reprice an entire catalog. Start with the actual category, selling price, and fulfillment route.

The point

Check the product's current fee at its actual selling price. Then test whether a price change improves total contribution after its effect on orders.

## Find the product whose fee changed

If you sell on noon in Saudi Arabia, a fee announcement does not automatically require a catalog-wide price increase. The commercial question is which items now incur a different referral fee and what contribution remains at their actual selling prices. Noon's Saudi FBN fee page identifies changes for selected categories effective September 10, 2026. It also keeps an older table explicitly marked as effective only through September 9. A quick read of the older rate could put your next pricing decision on the wrong basis. [[1]](https://helpcenter.noon.partners/en/category/fulfilled-by-noon-fbn/fulfilled-by-noon-fbn-fees-in-ksa)

Cleaning & Hygiene makes the distinction concrete. The old table lists a 9% referral fee. The new table lists 8% for an item sold at SAR 50 or less and 10% for one sold above SAR 50. These are referral rates for items classified in that category under FBN in Saudi Arabia, not a universal noon commission or a rate for every fulfillment route. Noon also states a SAR 1 minimum fee per item and notes product-type and brand-level exceptions. Check the category and terms attached to your item before using the headline percentage. A product at SAR 45 may face a lower listed referral percentage, while one at SAR 60 may face a higher one. Referral is only one cost line, however. Noon says its FBN outbound fee depends on the unit dimensions, shipping weight, and selling price; inventory-related charges can apply too. Advertising or discounts may have changed over the same period. Separate these costs before acting. A movement in the listed referral rate is not automatically the amount by which your selling price should move. ## The SAR 50 boundary has an unexpected effect

Consider a hypothetical Cleaning & Hygiene item that has no exception. At a SAR 50 selling price, the new 8% referral rate gives a SAR 4 fee and leaves SAR 46 before other costs. At SAR 51, the 10% rate gives a SAR 5.10 fee and leaves SAR 45.90. The accompanying figure isolates this fee threshold. It is arithmetic for two prices, not sales data, net revenue, or a final product margin. It excludes fulfillment, tax, product cost, and every other deduction. [[1]](https://helpcenter.noon.partners/en/category/fulfilled-by-noon-fbn/fulfilled-by-noon-fbn-fees-in-ksa)

In this narrow example, an extra riyal in the selling price leaves ten halalas less after referral. That does not make SAR 50 the correct price for every item. Another fee may change with the price. Shoppers may see enough value to accept a higher price, or holding the item at SAR 50 may require discounts and advertising that cost more than the referral saving. The calculation reveals a boundary that can disappear inside a blended monthly report; it does not prescribe pricing just below it.

Read the fee table wording closely. Up to SAR 50 includes SAR 50, and above SAR 50 starts beyond it. For this category, the published rate is selected by the item selling price; it is not a marginal charge on only the riyal above the boundary. Other categories can use a different construction. The same page describes memory-card fees in portions of the selling price. If a settlement differs from your quick estimate, check the category, exception, and transaction price used for the charge before declaring an error. - SAR 50 8% SAR 4 SAR 46

- SAR 51 10% SAR 5.10 SAR 45.90

## Calculate contribution before choosing a response

Start with a completed order for the same item after the new schedule took effect. Record the transaction price after discount, then product cost, referral and outbound fees, a fair share of advertising, and a returns allowance drawn from your own history. Keep the tax basis consistent. Noon says the fees on its page are exclusive of VAT, so do not mix tax-inclusive revenue with tax-exclusive costs without an accounting adjustment. A payout figure may combine several deductions; do not count the same fee again from an order report. [[1]](https://helpcenter.noon.partners/en/category/fulfilled-by-noon-fbn/fulfilled-by-noon-fbn-fees-in-ksa)

You have several options. Hold the price and absorb a modest cost difference, change the price, or revisit a discount or advertising spend that does not generate enough additional orders. Compare the expected contribution per order and the likely number of orders for each option. A price rise may leave more on each unit but reduce volume. A cut to reach the lower fee bracket reduces the referral rate and also reduces revenue. No single referral percentage can tell you which option produces more total contribution.

For another hypothetical item in the same category sold at SAR 60, the old 9% rate gives a SAR 5.40 referral fee. The new 10% rate gives SAR 6 if the rule applies. That is a SAR 0.60 difference per item before tax and all other charges, or SAR 60 across 100 identical sales at the same price. This arithmetic sizes the issue; it does not recommend a SAR 0.60 price rise. Lost orders following a price change could cost more than the fee recovered from those that remain. ## Do not confuse product category with fulfillment route

The example uses the Saudi FBN schedule. If you prepare and dispatch the product from your own warehouse under FBP, noon publishes a different fee schedule. Do not carry an FBN rate into an FBP calculation just because the marketplace name is the same. Product-type or brand-level exceptions may also override a headline category rate. Compare the same item, in the same fulfillment program, at the price paid on the transaction. Otherwise the apparent fee change may reflect a different route or classification. Fulfillment and storage can matter more than a small referral-rate movement. Noon's FBN page says the outbound fee depends on dimensions, shipping weight, and selling price. If an item is near your minimum acceptable contribution, inspect the actual packed dimensions, time in storage, and advertising cost to win each order. Do not redesign packaging on the strength of a projected fee saving alone. Check product eligibility, protection in transit, and the new packaging cost before trying it. The old and new tables show what noon announced. Completed orders and settlement records show how the terms were applied to your account. Select orders after September 10 for the same item and match the selling price, category, and charged referral. Document any contractual exception rather than generalizing it to all sellers. If you have only a handful of orders since the change, label the result preliminary. It is too thin a basis for a large stock order or broad repricing exercise.

## One decision to make this week

Choose three noon FBN products: one near a published price boundary, another comfortably above it, and a third that sells well but retains little contribution. For each, write down the transaction price after discount, assigned category, referral charged on a recent completed order, outbound fee, product cost, advertising allocation, and your own returns allowance. Compare the observed referral with the September 10 schedule and any account exception. If your category has no announced change, do not assume this update raised or lowered its rate. [[1]](https://helpcenter.noon.partners/en/category/fulfilled-by-noon-fbn/fulfilled-by-noon-fbn-fees-in-ksa)

Set a minimum acceptable contribution and choose one contained trial. You might test a new price for an item outside a seasonal promotion, remove a discount that brings too few incremental orders, or hold the price while observing two more weeks of transactions. Compare periods with similar availability and advertising where possible. If several conditions changed together, do not attribute every movement in orders to price. Keep product cost and each fee line separate so the next review can explain what moved.
